6.8 magnitude quake hits Papua New Guinea

In Papua New Guinea, a strong earthquake with a magnitude of 6.8 jolted the town of Rabaul.

The US Geological Survey said the epicentre of the quake was located 89 kilometers northeast of Rabaul on New Britain island and at a depth of 499km.
