DIYARBAKIR: Several people were injured on Friday in an explosion at a rally by the pro-Kurdish People´s Democratic Party (HDP) in the southeastern Turkish city of Diyarbakir two days ahead of legislative polls, an AFP correspondent said.
Ambulances arrived at the scene to take the injured away, with chaotic scenes on the square where the rally was due to be held, the correspondent said.
Reports said that the explosion was blamed on an electrical transformer at the rally, but it is not clear what caused it to fail.
The state Anatolia news agency said many were injured but there was no precise figure.
The HDP has been targeted by several attacks ahead of Sunday´s elections and clashes at its rally in the eastern city of Erzurum on Thursday left dozens wounded.
