BEIRUT: At least 20 people were killed on Monday in two car bomb attacks in the northeastern Syrian city of Hasaka, state media reported.

State television said rescue teams were searching the rubble of collapsed buildings for more casualties.

At least one of the blasts targeted Kurdish fighters, Reuters reported citing the Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights as saying.

The first blast occurred in Khashman area in the north of the city, and the second in its center.
