At least 11 people were killed Sunday evening after heavy rains triggered flash floods in northern Iran, state media reported.
Authorities said there may be more casualties in the provinces of Tehran, Alborz and Qazvin. The official IRNA state news agency said at least 20 cars were swept away by the floods, including a couple that had just been married.
Two women and a Chinese national was among those killed, state TV said.
Rescue workers are still in the area, which has been running without electricity. Authorities said the rising number of flash floods come from improper construction around the river beds.
