IS bans Eid prayers in Iraq

ERBIL: Militant group IS has banned Eid-ul-Fitr prayers in the Iraqi city of Mosul terming them illegal.

According to a spokesman for the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), IS has said that Eid prayers are un-Islamic.

New rules and regulations have been imposed by IS since their takeover of Mosul last year. Those who violate the new rules are often subjected to harsh punishment.
