NEW DELHI: Students of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) in Indian city of New Delhi burnt the effigies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other leaders of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
The students move came in a protest against the Indian brutalities on Muslims and Dalits in the supervision of Modi.
“We celebrated the victory of truth over falsehood in a modern and democratic country by burning effigies. For us Modi and RSS are symbol of untruth,” said Sunny Diman, an NSUI member as reported by local newspaper.
National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) at the university declared Modi and BJP leaders Ravana known as the demon king.
The students pronounced that not Muslims but extremists pose a threat to India.
JNU’s administration has initiated investigation against the incident.
