UNITED NATIONS: The United Nations has called for unimpeded humanitarian access to besieged areas in Syria.

According to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs up to 4.5 million people in the war-torn country do not have access to the life-saving aid they urgently need.

Meanwhile, Syrian government has agreed to allow aid into the besieged rebel-held village of Madaya.

The UN’s World Food Programme said that if access were secured, trucks could begin to arrive by Monday.
