The self-professed controversial religious scholar and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) member is in hot water once again, seems like he loves walking on thin ice.

PTI’s disgruntled MNA Hussain had criticised PM Khan for “not listening to anyone”, as he vented out his anger at being given a cold shoulder by the party’s Karachi chapter as well as the PTI chairman.

The PTI MNA elected from NA-245 Karachi also objected to being sidelined during talks with the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM).

His Whatsapp voice message also surfaced in which the disgruntled leader is venting his anger against lawmakers of PTI.

In the message posted in the Whatsapp group of PTI parliamentarians from Sindh, the mercurial politician is heard conveying his reservations to his colleagues.

The leaked message shows that the main reason behind Amir Liaquat Hussain’s anger was being not invited to an event hosted by Sindh Governor Imran Ismail.

He apparently left the group after his fellow lawmakers from Karachi came up with excuses that failed to satisfy him.

Former Pakistan cricket captain and batting legend Javed Miandad has challenged the newly elected National Assembly member of the PTI Aamir Liaquat to resign and contest a by-election against him in Karachi.

Minadad was responding to Aamir Liaquat’s latest outburst against his own party.

PTI’s Karachi chapter member Faisal Vawda has also demanded Aamir Liaquat to resign from his National Assembly membership and contest the election as an independent, adding that the PTI would also field its candidate.

Few months back the controversial TV anchor had been caught in another controversy after alleged marriage with a lady associated with media industry probably his second wife.

Contesting from NA-245 Karachi on a PTI ticket, Liaquat’s alleged second marriage was not mentioned in the nomination papers filed for the upcoming general elections 2018.

According to the details revealed by private news channel, Amir Liaquat did his second marriage few months ago. His Nikah was performed by Mufti Abdul Qadir in the presence of close friends Syed Ali Imam, Hamood Munawar and Abdul Wahab as witnesses.

The ‘No more doctor’ did not mention the details of his latest marriage in his recently submitted nomination papers to the ECP. The controversial anchor has mentioned his first wife Bushra Amir, son Ahmad Amir and daughter Dua Amir in his nomination papers for NA-245 constituency.

These are the documents which are circulating on the social media for past few days about his second marriage.

The veteran actor Sohail Ahmed, also known as Azizi, also alluded to the matter of Aamir’s alleged marriage with 24-year-old media professional.

When I asked him to confirm the news about his alleged marriage the anchor immediately blocked me from his Twitter account despite of rendering reply.

The actor owns a Kurta shop in Kurta Gali at Tariq Road which was shut down suddenly in Ramazan. The reports are that Anchor has sold the shop in order to run his election campaign.

Aamir Liaquat who claimed several times for being a Doctor has now mentioned his qualification till masters, excluding the doctorate degree in his recently submitted nomination papers.

According to the details, he got his Masters degree in 2013. He was alleged of keeping a fake doctorate degree in past, a claim that he denied.

Liaquat, who joined Imran Khan’s party earlier this year, PTI’s Karachi leader Firdous Shamim Naqvi refused to give him a ticket from NA-245 constituency.

On which Aamir Liaquat tweeted that he considered PTI his home but will take a decision about his political future in couple of days.

He also warned the PTI workers against misbehaving with him, asking them to ‘remain in their limit’ on social media, otherwise he will open a Pandora box.

However, a settlement was made between him and PTI after he met with PTI chief Imran Khan in Islamabad.

Recently, banners and posters were emerged against Aamir Liaquat Hussain in NA-245 constituency demanding citizens of constituency to not vote for the seller of religion (controversial personality).

It is pertinent to mention here that Aamir Liaquat had several times claimed that NA-245 is his own constituency where he had spent his entire childhood and formative years. But, on the other hand people of NA-245 have rejected the controversial Tv anchor.

In May, electronic media watchdog slapped a 30-day ban and issued a notification to the television host for hurting ‘sentiments of different sects’ and creating sensation ‘through unwarranted drama on the basis of religion’.

He has also used immoral language in the past which has been deemed unacceptable in the Muslim world. PEMRA also mentioned that Amir Liaquat causes unwarranted drama on TV that hurts the sentiments of Pakistanis.

The Anchor accused Dr. Zakir Naik on live television and argued with a fellow scholar over the question after finally leaving his show.

Despite enjoying a large following, he has regularly courted controversy and accused people of treason and blasphemy.

Former MQM leader and State Minister for Religious Affairs

Hussain was elected as the Member of the National Assembly of Pakistan for the first time in Pakistani general election, 2002 on the ticket of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement from NA-249 Karachi-XI constituency and was appointed as the minister of state for Religious affairs and Zakat and Ushar Division in September 2004 in Shaukat Aziz cabinet.

As the junior minister of Religious Affairs, Hussain asked religious scholars from Pakistan to issue a ‘Fatwa’ regarding suicide bombings in May 2005.

In June 2005 he was attacked by enraged youths during his visit to Jamia Binoria. Police however denied that any incident of manhandling of Hussain had taken place and said that the crowd only chanted slogans.

Hussain was the minister of state for Religious Affairs until July 2007, when his party asked him to resign from his position as Minister of State for Religious Affairs and from his seat as a member of the National Assembly.

According to an official statement, the party was unhappy with the statements made by Hussain against Salman Rushdie.  Aamir Liaquat Hussain, who was part of Muttahida Qaumi Movement till 2016, left the party after founder Altaf Hussain’s August 22, 2016 speech in which he urged his supporters to raise anti-Pakistan slogans and attack media houses.

NA-249 is a constituency which was basically won by MQM leader Dr Farroq Sattar several times. In 2002, Farooq vacated his seat for Aamir Liauqat so that the latter could win from there.

According to the residents of NA-249 when Aamir became minister in 2002 he had never visited his constituency and did nothing for the people of NA-249. He was elected just because it was MQM’s strong hold area.

In 2018, he is contesting from NA-245 from PTI and his opponent will be MQM-P’s Dr Farooq Sattar.
