ISLAMABAD: Federal Government on Monday appointed former finance minister Asad Umar chairman for the National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Finance, Revenue and Economic Affairs.
Asad Umar will replace Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) MNA Faiz Ullah as the chair for the committee as Umar’s name was suggested by the committee member Syed Naved Qamar, seconded by Nasr Ullah Khan Dareshak. Fellow committee members congratulated Umar on his appointment.
Umar praised Faiz for his contributions as ex-chairman and said the nation got two good news within 24 hours, one being bailout package agreement between Pakistan and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and second being his appointment as the new chair.
Umar said the next session of the committee will be called on May 22 in which the committee will decide whether to publicise the bailout agreement or not.
