Dr Musharraf Rasool Cyan, a former bureaucrat, has officially joined Pakistan International Airlines as its Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
It is to be noted that Dr Cyan is the first CEO of the airline since it converted into a public limited company back in December.
Dr Cyan, along with holding various degrees and a PHD in Economics, has been trained in Aviation Management from Embry-Riddle University, Florida. It is expected that under him, the ailing airline will be able to kick start its revival process after recording a huge loss of Rs27 billion during January to September 2016.
Although the Cheif Financial Officer Nayyar Hayat took the position of acting CEO in April 2017 upon the firing of Bernd Hildenbrand, the company had been lacking a full time CEO for quite a while.
Along with the appointment of Dr Cyan, the airline has also appointed Zia Qadir Qureshi as its chief operating officer.
