Nation observes fifth anniversary of APS martyrs

PESHAWAR: The fifth anniversary of the brutal attack on Army Public School Peshawar is being observed in every nook and cranny of the country today with the firm resolve to completely root out terrorism.


All the federal educational institutions are observing Martyrs of Army Public School Day.

Various organizations are holding functions including rallies, seminars, and symposia to pay homage to the martyrs.

Pakistanis living abroad are also observing the day and holding special functions.

Five years ago today, on December 16, 2014, 144 people, including 131 schoolchildren, were martyred in the deadliest terrorist attack in Pakistan’s history when terrorists stormed Army Public School in Peshawar Cantonment and started indiscriminately killing everyone in sight.

Prime Minister Imran Khan in his message on the 5th anniversary of Army Public School Peshawar tragedy said while paying tribute to the martyrs that the blood of innocent children has united the whole nation against the terrorists.

In his message on the 5th anniversary of the APS terrorist attack, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa said the facilitator of the attack was given the death penalty and the nation embarked on a long journey of defeating terrorism. He saluted the families of the martyrs.
