CM Sindh, Karachi Corps Commander discuss extension in Rangers’ powers

KARACHI: Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah and Karachi Corps Commander General Naveed Mukhtar held a meeting on Friday to discuss a range of issues pertaining to the province’s law and order.


According to details, the issues discussed during the meeting between the two pertained to the arrest of Asad Kharal last night as well as the extension of Rangers’ powers in Sindh.

Sources disclosed that during the meeting, Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah complained to General Naveed Mukhtar about Rangers arresting Asad Kharal.

Sources revealed that PPP’s Farooq H Naik was about to depart for Dubai where he would hold consultations with PPP co-chairperson Asif Ali Zardari and other leaders on the issue of extending Rangers’ powers in Sindh.

The meeting between the Corps Commander and Chief Minister Sindh last for two hours at the Chief Minister House.

On the other hand, traders held a strike in favour of Rangers and demanded the paramilitary force be granted powers. All Karachi Tajir Ittehad Chairman warned that if Rangers were not granted powers and extension in Sindh then a sit-in protest would be staged by the traders community outside CM House.
