CPEC will generate new economic opportunities for whole region: President

KARACHI: President Mamnoon Hussain on Saturday said Pakistan’s sea and water routes are generating new economic opportunities not only for the country but the whole region.


He was addressing the passing out parade of cadets at Marine Academy in Karachi today. The President said completion of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor will enhance Pakistan’s stature among comity of nations.

He rejected the impression about change in western route of CPEC and said all segments of the society should play their role for successful implementation of the project.

Appreciating the sacrifices of armed forces in the war on terror, the President said Pakistan’s efforts are bringing peace and stability to the region.

Meanwhile, addressing the inaugural ceremony of Chinese gifted chandelier at mausoleum of Quaid-i-Azam in Karachi today, President Mamnoon Hussain said China and Pakistan are all weather friends and both have been supporting each other through hard times.

He said Pak-China friendship will flourish in future whatever circumstances and both countries will continue to work together in various sectors.

He said China’s gift of chandelier is the symbol of Pakistan China friendship and bilateral relation. Speaking at the ceremony, Chinese ambassador Sun Weidong said China desires to enhance bilateral relations and cooperation in diverse fields for development and prosperity in the region.

He said gifted chandelier is manifestation of love of Chinese nation for Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. He said Pak-China friendship has entered a golden phase in the form of CPEC.

He also read the message of Chinese president Xi Jinping on this occasion.
