Former chief minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader on Sunday took to twitter to publicize the discovery of “Black Gold” in Sindh’s Thar region, paying accolades to the late former Prime Minister of Pakistan Benazir Bhutto.

According to details, the coal was discovered at the depth of 140 meters after more than two years of exaction.

SECMC Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Shamsuddin Shaikh was quoted as saying in the statement that the successful extraction of the first coal seam not only proves that Thar’s coal is exploitable but can produce “thousands of megawatts of cheap electricity for many decades.”

As per reports the coal will be utilized for energy generation purposes as early as this year.

“First electron will be generated from the power plant in December this year,” announced Sindh Engro Coal Mining Company (SECMC), a joint venture between the Sindh government and Engro Powergen.
