MQM-P, PTI sign MoU in government formation

ISLAMABAD: As the number game is getting interesting to form the federal government, on Friday a delegation of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (Pakistan)  reached Bani Gala to meet  PTI chief Imran Khan after holding successful talks with party senior aide Jahangir Khan Tareen.

Addressing press conference with PTI leadership outside Banigala MQM-P chief Khalod Maqbool announed to support PTI in centre.

“We came here on the wish of PTI chief Imran Khan, will support PTI in formation of government,” said MQM-P leader Khalid Maqbool.

According to details Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been finalized between MQMP and PTI.

As per the MoU following are the consensus made between PTI and MQMP:

. A university of International level shall be establish in Hyderabad.

. Election Audit to take place of any of the constituencies pointed out by MQM-P.

. Both parties shall strive to intorduce police reforms as implemented by PTI govt in KPK.

. A direct financial package will be announced immediately that shall be disbursed by the federal government with special emphasis on Water.

Speaking on the occasion, PTI leader Jahangir Khan Tareen said that both parties are building on the earlier contacts for formation of government, adding that the manifesto of PTI gives deep importance to devolution of power and an effective local government system.

MQM(P) delegation today left from Karachi, accompanied by PTI’s Imran Ismail.

Party convener Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, who is leading the MQM-P delegation, presented his party’s demands to Tareen in exchange for joining the treasury benches with PTI, sources privy to development informed.

The MQM (P) delegation includes Amir Khan, Faisal Subzwari, Waseem Akhtar, and Kunwar Naveed Jamil while the PTI’s side include Imran, Tareen and Shah Mehmood Qureshi.

The MQM (P) clinched 16 seats in the Sindh Assembly in the July 25 general election, and has six seats in the National Assembly. The PTI had invited the party to join it in the centre.

In a uprising move, Muttahida Qaumi Movement (Pakistan) on Wednesday night finally decided to join the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf in forming the federal government.

MQM(P)convener Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui apprised his party’s decision while speaking to a private news channel, saying that members of MQM(P) in National Assembly will sit in treasury benches.

“The Pakistan Peoples’ Party does not need anyone in Sindh. The MQMP will sit alongside the PTI on government benches,” he said.

He also confirmed that his party will not attend All Parties conference (APC) called upon to oppose Imran led PTI in finding the leader of the house, today.

Furthermore, Khalid Maqbool claimed that his party is not seeking any office of ministry position.

“We are not aspirant of any office or ministry position,” said Siddiqui.

The party convener further said that Karachi has an issue of sewerage and water scarcity, adding that the demands of the MQMP representatives will not change.
