After a full fledged power show of the PDM and the fiery speeches the PDM leaders made against the present Government with full verve it was expected that the Prime Minister shall react to the same.
The Prime Minister chaired a meeting of top PTI leadership and coalition partners to discuss the ongoing political situation in the country which involves the power shows by the opposition parties.
Earlier there had been a reshuffling in the cabinet keeping certain things and issues in mind.
The very important meeting today was attended by Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed, Federal Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar, Federal Minister for Education Shafqat Mehmood, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Shibli Faraz, and Special Assistant to PM on Political Communication Shahbaz Gill.
The Prime Minister formed a future strategy against the opposition’s anti-government movement, which according to the opposition is gathering moss. The Prime Minister has called a meeting of governments’ spokesperson late today as well. And The Governor of Punjab addressed a media gathering later, according to NewsOne.
The meeting of the government was scheduled after Pakistan Democratic Movement’s (PDM) jalsa in Lahore, Sunday night where provocative speeches were delivered by Maryam Nawaz, Maulana Fazlur Rehman and Bilawal Bhutto Zardari at the rally as a long march to Islamabad was announced by the leadership of PDM.
No definite is yet given for PDM move to Islamabad, Fazl put the timeframe for the move at the start of late January or early February next year. The PDM chief said the “illegitimate government” will not be allowed to rule, adding that the opposition will only “rest after the PTI government is brought to an end”.
The Prime Minister while attending to other affairs, termed the 11-party opposition alliance’s show as ‘pathetic’. PM Khan said that PDM had spent “so much money, time, effort and displayed utter callousness by endangering people’s lives during the COVID-19 spike showing the scant regard they have for the folks safety and well-being”.
While trying to deal with the rising number of COVID-19 cases, Punjab Health Minister, Dr. Yasmin Rashid advised the participants of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) rally to quarantine themselves in order to ensure the safety of their dear ones. The Health Minister stressed on the point that the PDM rally had doubled the fears of COVID-19 spread in Punjab.
She firmly advised that everyone who attended the jalsa should quarantine themselves for at least two weeks in order to keep their families safe.
“The PDM has carried out a deadly attack on the health of its own workers under the guise of its lustrous politics,” she added. Dr. Yasmin also regretted that despite the government’s incessant efforts to prevent mass gatherings from taking place, the opposition still went ahead with their jalsas putting the lives of their workers at stake.
