Belarus President Lukashenko arrives in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko arrived here Thursday on a two-day state visit.


Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif received the Belarus president here at the Nur Khan Air Base.

A twenty-one gun salute boomed as the visiting dignitary alighted from his aircraft.

This is the first ever visit by a President of Belarus.

During his stay in Islamabad, the President of Belarus will hold meetings with the Pakistani leadership.

President Mamnoon Hussain will host banquet dinner in honour of President Alexander Lukashenko.

A formal welcome ceremony will be held at the PM House on Friday.

A number of accords will be signed between the two countries.

The visit of President of Belarus earlier scheduled for May 26-27 was rescheduled due to the death of his mother.
