QUETTA: The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) here on Monday, granting exemption from appearance in court today, told former president General (retired) Pervez Musharraf to make his presence a ‘must’ on June 16 next hearing of Akbar Bugti murder case.
ATC Judge Tariq Anwar Kasi was hearing the Akbar Bugti murder case here.
This is the sixth time that the court has prescribed for the former military strongman’s appearance in court, but he has remained missing from all hearings despite assurance provided by his guarantors.
The tribunal took the plea, but ordered Musharraf’s guarantors to ensure his presence in the next hearing, scheduled for June 16.
Nawabzada Jamil Akbar Bugti has nominated Musharraf, former prime minister Shaukat Aziz, former governor Owais Ahmed Ghani, former chief minister Jam Mohammad Yousuf, Sherpa, Nausherwani and former district coordination officer of Deere Bugti, Abdul Samad Lasi, in the murder case of his male parent.
Throughout the hearing, Pervez Musharraf’s counsel agreed a petition praying his client’s exemption from appearance today on medical ground, which the court granted. Nevertheless, the court asked the guarantors of former presidents to certify Pervez Musharraf’s presence at the next hearing.
It may be recalled that this is roughly the fifth time the order of Pervez Mushrraf’s appearance in court has been put out.
In the period of time, Aftab Sherpao and Mir Shoaib Nausherwani agreed their petitions in the court praying for their acquittal.
