Chemical waste cause to death ten, six accused arrested – Dera Ismail Khan

Peshawar- Police filed an FIR today in Dera Ismail Khan against those who put out the chemical waste which killed ten people, including five members of a household.

On May 2, people crossing the water canal that flows from Chashma Sugar Mill located in Ramak village of Tehsil Parowa towards the Indus River, passing through DI Khan, had fallen unconscious after inhaling toxic fumes from the urine.

Eight people, including women and children, were killed.

The funeral of the lowest, adding 5 members of a family was obtained while the affected families blocked the Indus Highway near Ranak to protest the incident.

Presently after the funeral of the dead in the incident, the angry villagers also pelted stones at the principal gate of the sugar mills.

The water channel, usually crossed on foot, is less than two feet deep and mainly carries waste from the manufacturing plant.

A case was filed opposed to the owner and management of the Chashma Sugar Mill and seven people have been held back, so far.
