Corruption of Rs1,000 billion committed every year in Pakistan: JI Chief

QUETTA: Chief of Jamaat-e-Islami (JI), Sirajul Haq on Wednesday stressed upon waging ‘jihad’ against the menace of corruption in all the four provinces of Pakistan, linking the country’s progress with the elimination of unscrupulous practices.

Addressing a JI convention here, Sirajul Haq claimed that corruption of Rs1,000 billion is committed every year in the country, adding: “Our problems can be resolved only through ensuring the supremacy of Pakistan’s ideology.”

The JI Amir regretted that the present system sets no priority for the poor and the leaders had formed political parties to fulfill their personal agenda.

Sirajul Haq held the scourge of ‘bureaucracy and corruption of political parties’ responsible for Balochistan’s backwardness.

Haq added what to talk of a common man’s security in the country where even its ministers and members of parliament are insecure and have to travel in bullet-proof vehicles.

Sirajul Haq also lamented that despite having educational degrees, the youth of the country were unemployed.
