CTD detains highly educated terror suspect in Karachi

KARACHI: Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) has claimed rounding up a couple of ‘highly educated’ terror suspects belonging to outlawed militant outfits in Tuesday’s raids.

“Awais Raheel is a Master in Business Administration (MBA) from Institute of Business Administration (IBA), one of Karachi’s most prestigious business schools. He is also an engineer currently teaching at his alma mater NED University,” In-charge CTD Mazhar Mashwani told reporters.

Mashwani said Raheel, who was nabbed in Karachi’s upscale neighborhood Clifton, had ties with a number of banned outfits.

“We have seized loads of hate literature from Raheel,” said the CTD chief adding,” The suspect was involved in brainwashing young men into jihad.”
