CTD detains Tehreek-e-Emirate Islamia Karachi chief from Orangi Town


KARACHI: Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) claimed to have apprehended Tehreek-e-Emirate Islamia Afghanistan’s Karachi head.


SSP CTD Junaid Shaikh, while addressing a press conference here Thursday, said the accused identified as Umer Hayyat was arrested from MPR Colony Orangi Town in an action launched on intelligence basis.

The police officer went on the say that Umer Hayyat had prepared two suicide bomber to target Kamra Airbase, however, they returned unsuccessful due to high security.

He had also killed SHO in Peshawar and an instructor in Attock, the officer said.

Also, intelligence agencies arrested alleged terrorist affiliated to proscribed Tehreek-e-Taliban Sher Khan from Sultanabad area.

Sources said, terrorist Abdullah was involved in target killing and kidnapping for ransom.

The militants were devising major terrorism plan on Eidul Azha.
