Daska bar president among two killed in police, lawyers clash


DASKA: The police on Monday opened fire on lawyers who demonstrated a protest against City Station House Officer (SHO) resultantly two including tehsil bar president Rana Khalid Abbas were killed while five protesters were injured.


Chief Minister (CM) Shahbaz Sharif has taken notice of the incident.

The police opened fire on the lawyers as they demonstarted a protest against the City Station House Officer (SHO).

The CM has expressed grief over the killing of the bar president. He ordered the authorities concerned to provide the best treatment to the injured protesters.

CM Shahbaz has summoned a report from the regional police officer (RPO) Gujranwala.

The Punjab Bar Council has called a strike on May 26 boycotting judicial proceedings in courts provincewide. The council has said that no lawyer would appear in the court tomorrow.

Punjab Inspector General (IG) has taken notice of the incident and summoned a report within 24 hours.

The lawyers have circled the police station after the incident. Locals and people affiliated with the law community have started to gather at the site.

The injured protesters are being shifted to a hospital using three-wheelers.

The lawyers were demonstrating a protest allegedly against the behavior of the City SHO.
