ECP orders enquiry on the Khan’s rigging allegations

ISLAMABAD: On Tuesday, the Election Commission ordered investigation into Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan’s statements of electoral rigging in Sargodha’s NA-68, a seat won by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in the 2013 general elections.

The commission has asked the voters list and record of vote counting later than Khan’s allegations of over 100 per cent votes polled at one of the polling places in the constituency.

The PTI asserts that one of the polling stations had 1,500 registered electors, while close to 8,000 ballots were cast at the station on polling day.

Sardar Muhammad Shafqat Hayat Khan of the Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) later returned successfully from the backside.
