Female journalist brutally murdered in Karachi

KARACHI: Senior female journalist, Sadaf Akhtar, on Monday was viciously slain at her home in what the police are saying was a robbery.

“After incapacitating her, the killers struck Ms Akhtar with a carpenter’s adze (a tool similar to an ax) multiple times. She died a horrifically painful death,” sources said.

Police say the single parent of two minor girls was murdered around 09:00 AM in her bedroom at her father’s house in PIB Colony.

She had moved in with her family after her husband’s death years ago.

“When her father –with the help of neighbors– broke the door to her floor he almost lost his mind to find his dead daughter lying in a pool of blood with a big gash above her forehead,” an eyewitness said.

According to police, who have recovered the murder weapon, Akhtar was killed resisting robbery or the perpetrators, suspected to be a married couple of domestics namely Nadeem and Nafeesa, did not want to leave any trace behind.
