ISLAMABAD: Chief of Army Staff General. Qamar Javed Bajwa called on the new elected Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, here in Islamabad. This is the first meeting between the Premier and Army Chief, after Shahid Khaqan Abbasi sworn in as the Prime Minister, following the disqualification of his party leader, former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, by the Supreme Court of Pakistan.
According to a press release from the prime minister’s office, Gen Bajwa paid a visit to the newly elected premier at the PM House and discussed “professional matters pertaining to the Pakistan Army”.
Prime Minister Abbasi lauded the efforts of the armed forces in conducting successful operations of Operation Raddul Fassad and Operation Khyber IV. “The entire nation is proud of the sacrifices rendered by security personnel in ridding the motherland of the menace of terrorism”, the premier said.
The meeting between PM Abbasi, Army Chief Bajwa holds much importance in the backdrop of future line of action for the matters relating to CPEC, USA, India, Afganistan. The meeting is also important because this is the first meeting following the corps commander conference, on Tuesday in which the Army chief of Pakistan maintained to hold supremacy of law, constitution along with other state organs, as reported.
