The federal regime is not interfering with functioning of national media regulatory authority, Information and Broadcasting Minister Pervaiz Rashid said on Wednesday.
Talking to media persons outside the Parliament House, Rashid said that Geo’s issue was a semi-judicial matter.
“PEMRA has given its point of opinion. We have called for the agency to settle the case as per the law,” he stated.
“PEMRA is an autonomous and powerful body. We are not interfering in their affairs,” he said.
The information minister said that there were 22 stay orders on decisions rendered by the media watchdog about various media groups.
Rashid pointed out apology is seen as an admission of a fault in the civilized world and that it bears great importance.
“All of us respect Pakistan Army, which is holding the country’s flag,” he appended.
