ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court restored senior journalist

The Supreme Court on Friday restored senior journalist Mohammad Malick as Managing Director of the state-run Pakistan Television.

A two-member bench, comprising Justice Saqib Nisar and Justice Athar Saeed, took up Malick’s application and reinstated him as MD PTV after suspending a ruling of Islamabad High Court (IHC).

In its conclusion, the tribunal observed that IHC verdict has made an ‘irreparable’ loss to the national channel by barring the MD from workingIssuing notices to parties, the court later adjourned the hearing for an indefinite period.

The IHC had cancelled Malick’s appointment, declaring it null and void, on the evidence that the regime has not fulfilled legal requirements for the high-level slot.
