Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has been after the culprits involved in China cutting scam including Ahsan alias Chunnu Mamu. Besides Mamu, officials of Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) have also been nominated in different property and land grabbing cases.

Two former directors of KMC named Waseem and Najam-uz-Zaman include the persons alleged of the crime.

The Rangers had conducted a raid in early days of September in Gulshan Iqbal Block 13-D and arrested a close aide of Mamu, Anjum. Sources had said that Anjum was a close confidante of China cutting scam’s master. Reports that surfaced after the arrest also suggested that he worked for a political party.

In August 2015, an official of a Karachi bank was arrested for abusing his position by assisting Mamu in opening accounts for illegal money. The FIA issued a statement after the felon was apprehended that stated a case was registered against Syed Iqbal Rasheed under sections 471, 420, 468, 409 and 109.

Mamu has not visited Pakistan since 2013 however his aides have been helping him launder the money acquired through land crimes.
