Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) Sunday symbolically stood Geo TV in an Awami Katehra (dock in an open public court) to decry it for telecasting allegedly profane content in a morning show, which, according to clerics, hurt the religious opinions of Muslims.
“Geo TV stands indicted in the ‘people’s court, right here, right now”, SIC leader, Sahibzada Hamid Raza, said passing the verdict outside Geo TV’s headquarters located on the I.I. Chundrigar Road.
Sunni Tehreek’s Sarwat Ejaz Qadri led a rally staged to show solidarity with the armed forces of Pakistan.
Addressing the demonstrators, he doomed the Jang/Geo Group to ruin for accusing Pakistan’s spymaster Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) of plotting an armed attack on senior journalist Hamid Mir.
All Pakistan Muslim League joined Pasbaan-e-Aza outside Karachi Press Club in a pro-army-ISI demonstration.
Pakistan Helpline Welfare Organization also staged a rally against Geo TV.
Similar objections were too organized in Lahore, Rahim Yar Khan, Bahawalpur, and other cities.
