KMC’s retired official arrested in alleged corruption case


KARACHI: Law enforcement agency on Friday has arrested Karachi Metropolitan Corporation’s (KMC) retired officer Huzoor Bakhsh in alleged corruption case in an operation in Clifton.


Ex-KMC officer was recruited on basic scale five however, through backing of influential people, Huzoor became a BS-18 government officer. The alleged criminal was earlier apprehended by NAB in 2013. The accused has also served jail term in the past on corruption charges.

On the other hand, National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has initiated investigations against agriculture secretary Anwar Ali Gopang. Law enforcement agencies’ crackdown against corruption mafia in Sindh continues. The authorities have ordered Gopang to present three-year budget of new Sabzi Mandi, details of special grant and audit report from 2013-2015.

Gopang is allegedly holding the position on recommendations of influential people.

Separately, Anti Corruption Department has arrested District Registration Officer Ishaq Sheikh in Hyderabad. Sheikh is alleged to have illegally sold at least 30 acre land.
