KP LB polls claimed 18 lives, is this ‘new Pakistan’, asks PM

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif on Thursday has expressed grief over the deaths of as many as 18 people in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) local body (LB) polls and remarked that this is the ‘new Pakistan’.

He expressed these views in an introductory speech in the joint Parliamentary session.

He said that different incidents which happened during the LB elections claimed lives of at least 18 people. He said that this number of people never died in general elections.

The PM criticised Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and remarked that this is the ‘new Pakistan’ that the opposition party promised. The government is playing with the lives of the people, he added.

He further said that PTI accused Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) of rigging the General elections 2013 and now the party goes ahead and rigs LB polls.
