Law, order situation improved in Karachi: Nawaz Sharif


KARACHI: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif says law and order situation in Karachi has considerably improved in consequence of the ongoing operation against terrorists and criminals.


Chairing a meeting on law and order in Karachi on Thursday, he said the Karachi operation launched two years back after a broad consensus has yielded positive results.

The Prime Minister said the frequency of incidents of target killing, kidnapping for ransom, and extortion have decreased manifold in the city.

Lauding performance the law-enforcement agencies, the Prime Minister said Police, Rangers and other institutions are playing important role in addressing the security challenge.

He categorically stated that the Karachi operation is not any particular party but is targeting criminals and terrorists.

Nawaz Sharif said terrorists are on the run and they are carrying out sporadic acts just to make their presence felt. We will have to face them squarely.

Referring to attack on MQM leader Rashid Godil, the Prime Minister said the perpetrators of the crime would be nabbed and brought to the book.

He said those involved in attack on former Punjab Home Minister Shuja Khanzada have already been apprehended.

He said investigations into Baldia Town tragedy are underway and those behind the dastardly act would be brought to justice.
