Minister denies report on Ex-Air chief plane crash

ISLAMABAD: Rejecting Auditor General’s report which revealed reasons of a plane crash that killed Air Chief Marshal Mushif Ali Mir and 10 others on board in 2003 in Kohat, Federal Minister for Defence Production Rana Tanvir on Tuesday said the aircraft was airworthy.

Speaking to media, he said the auditor general had nothing to do with purchasing and flying of a plane as it was entirely a technical matter and he had overstepped his mandate in his report.

“There was no technical fault in the aircraft of former air chief Mushif Ali Mir, and it is evident from all the reports that it crashed due to bad weather,” Tanvir said.

According to media reports, the Public Accounts Committee has been informed that the aircraft had completed its span of life at the time of the crash.
