LAHORE: Lahore High Court (LHC) on Tuesday ordered for the re- issue of notices to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, former president Asif Ali Zardari and several other political leaders in the foreign assets case.
Barrister Javed Iqbal Jafri, who filed the petition, asserted that these politicians caused a huge loss to the national exchequer by transferring at least $200 billion to foreign countries by money laundering.
Mehmood stated that if politicians get back their $200 billion, kept in banks abroad, then Pakistan can easily pay off all the debts.
The inclination of politicians summoned includes former president Asif Ali Zardari, Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairperson Imran Khan, PTI Vice Chairperson Shah Mehmood Qureshi and Pakistan People’s Party Patron-in-Chief Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.
The court orders republication of notices to Nawaz Sharif, Zardari and others and adjourned the hearing until June 16.
