PM calls Godil’s son, prays for early recovery


ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister (PM) Mohammad Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday telephoned Naufel Godil to inquire about the health of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Member National Assembly Rashid Godil, who was critically wounded in an attack yesterday.


The Prime Minister prayed for early recovery of the injured collegue and directed provision of best medical facilities for him.

Yesterday, four attackers on motorcycles opened fire on his car in Bahadurabad area, critically wounding him and killing his driver.

Police said bullet casings taken from the scene matched a 9mm pistol, adding that CCTV footage was being examined.

He was struck by five bullets to his head, jaw and chest. The MQM leader is still battling for his life at Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Liaqat National Hospital, as doctors say next 24 hours will be critical for him.

A panel of doctors will decide whether to take him off the ventilator so that he can start breathing with his own lungs, LNH spokesman Anjum Rizvi told reporters. He said a team of doctors was monitoring his condition and trying to stabilise him
