PM Sharif to meet Modi tomorrow: FO


ISLAMABAD: The Foreign Office on Thursday confirmed that Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif will hold bilateral meeting with his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi on the sidelines of the SCO summit at Ufa, Russia on Friday (July 10).


FO Spokesperson Qazi Khalilullah, at his weekly news briefing here, said all issues of importance will be discussed during the meeting.

The spokesperson expressed the confidence that the meeting between the two leaders will have positive impact on bilateral relations.

To a question, the spokesperson said Pakistan is against any sort of proxy war and desires good neighborly relations. We want to resolve all disputes through talks.

Qazi Khalilullah said the prime minister will also hold meetings with the Presidents of Russia, China and Afghanistan.

To a question about the arrest of defense analyst Zaid Hamid in Saudi Arabia, Qazi Khalilullah said our embassy has requested the Saudi authorities for consular access to the arrested analyst and provide information about the charges levelled against him and confirm the reports of his sentence.
