Rasheed regrets PTI criticism on NA-154 verdict

ISLAMABAD: Federal Information Minister Pervaiz Rasheed Tuesday regretted Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) criticism on the Supreme Court verdict in NA-154 case.

Addressing a press conference here, Rasheed said the remarks of the PTI chief Imran Khan over the apex court judgment is tantamount to contempt of court.

The minister said PML-N’s Saddique Baloch, who was de-seated by the election tribunal, moved Supreme Court against the decision, which had declared him ineligible to contest elections because of alleged fake degree.

He said Siddique Baloch prayed before the apex court that his degree has been verified by the HEC and is genuine. He, therefore, sought permission to participate in the elections.

Rasheed today said the Supreme Court asked the lawyer of Jehangir Tareen to advance arguments so that proceedings of the case could begin instantly but he requested the court to give a new date for hearing of the case. He said on this the court was left with no option but to grant stay.

He said Imran Khan only praised judiciary when judgments came in his favour.

The minister also regretted that Imran Khan is talking about not to accept the outcome of by-elections in NA-122 even before the elections.
