ISLAMABAD: Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly, Syed Khursheed Shah, on Tuesday wrote to Auditor General of Pakistan (AGP), seeking details of the audit of Nandipur power project.
The opposition leader’s letter comes a day after Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif ordered audit into matters relating to the 525MW Nandipur power project by auditor general of Pakistan.
The PM also ordered an inquiry to ascertain why the plant remained closed for four or six weeks after completion and fix responsibility in the event of negligence.
In the letter dispatched to the auditor general, Khursheed Shah, who is a senior leader of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and head of Public Accounts Committee, demanded immediate audit of the project.
Shah, in the letter, asked the auditor general to provide details of the project and its audit to the committee and apprise the body how much loss was caused to the national exchequer and who was responsible for it.
