KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Thursday disposed of a petition against the arrest of former petroleum minister Dr Asim Hussain.
During case hearing today, the defence lawyer requested the SHC that his client should be shifted to the hospital as he is not feeling well.
Rangers law officer argued that all medical facilities are being provided to the accused and he cannot be moved to the hospital on someone’s ‘wish’.
The law officer told court that Asim Hussain is in Rangers’ custody and they will take full responsibility if anything happened to him.
After hearing the arguments, the court disposed of the petition, stating that Dr Asim cannot be shifted to the hospital.
The court also directed Rangers to ensure every medical facility to the accused.
On August 26, Asim Hussain, a close friend of former president Asif Ali Zardari and incumbent chairman of the Higher Education Commission (HEC) Sindh chapter, was arrested by Sindh Rangers on charges of supporting terrorist activities, embezzlement in government funds and land grabbing.
