Six injured as Quetta bound Jaffar Express train derails

JACOBABAD: At least six people were injured in a blast on Saturday on a railway track near Jacobabad’s district jail.

The blast occurred when the Jaffer Express train, which was taking passengers from Rawalpindi to Quetta, was passing through the area. Four bogies of the locomotive derailed from the track when the blast took place, injuring eight passengers.

The injured were taken to Civil Hospital Jacobabad and a bomb disposal squad was summoned as police and Rangers cordoned off the area. The intensity of the blast created an eight-foot ditch in the affected area.

All train activities were suspended after the blast and the remaining passengers were transferred to private buses and vans.
