UNITED NATIONS: United Nations chief Ban Ki condemned attack on Karachi airport

United Nations chief Ban Ki Moon condemned the attack on Karachi international airport, in which 30 people were killed, and cried on the regime to address terrorism and religious extremism.

Mr Ban also condemned suicide attacks targeting Shia Muslims in Pakistan’s south-western province of Baluchistan, which a local killed at least 24 pilgrims.

The UN secretary general strongly condemned the two attacks and said it is “profoundly worried by this surge of violence across Pakistan,” his spokesman Stephane Dujarric said in a statement.

“While acknowledging the steps already taken to hold protection, he exhorts the government of Pakistan to further step-up its attempts to address terrorism and religious extremism, including with a view to protecting the rights of all people to safely exercise their faith, and to bring the culprits of such approaches to justice,” the spokesman added.
