UPPER DIR: On Sunday, at least six people died and 19 others, including three police officers, were injured in a roadside blast near a double-cabin vehicle in the Gamadand area at Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Upper Dir district, said local police.
According to the district police officer (DPO), Mian Naseeb Jan, the bomb, planted in the vehicle, was detonated by remote control.
The dead bodies and the injured are being taken to the nearest hospital. Security forces have arrived at the site of the blast and have begun a search operation after cordoning off the area.
Separately, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Information Minister Shaukat Yousafzai confirmed that five people killed in the blast and termed the incident to be based on old enmity, saying the feud over Haji Moutabir Khan’s property had been going on for some time and both parties have launched numerous attacks on each other.
Two suicide attacks have been made on Haji Moutabir Khan in the past and the injured police officers were assigned for his security, Yousafzai added.
