Accountability court adjourns hearing of Al-Azizia, Flagship cases against Nawaz till March 29

ISLAMABAD: The accountability court has adjourned hearing of Al-Azizia Still mills and Flagship references against ousted prime minister Nawaz Sharif till March 29 as primary witness Wajid Zia did not appear in court to record his statement, Newsone reported on Wednesday.


Nawaz’s counsel Khawaja Haris completed his cross-examination of witness Noreen Shahzadi, who had recorded her statement at the last hearing.

During the hearing prosecution informed judge that Federal Investigation Agency Additional Director Wajid Zia, who headed the Panama Papers case joint investigation team (JIT), and the NAB investigation officer are the witnesses remain to record their statements.

Earlier, Wajid Zia had recorded statement against former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz and Captain(R) Safdar in  Avenfield corruption reference.

The Court then adjourned the hearing directing Wazid Zia to appear before court on March 29.

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had filed three interim corruption references against the Sharif family in September last year in light of the Supreme Court’s July 28 verdict in the Panama Papers case.

Nawaz, daughter Maryam and son-in-law MNA Capt (retd) Safdar have been indicted in the Avenfield reference.
