Action initiated against Civil Aviation officer for giving security clearance to Cyril Almeida

ISLAMABAD: According to Newsone, the Civil Aviation Division has initiated action against its officer for giving a special protocol to the journalist Cyril Almeida belonging from a English news outlet, who went to Multan political gathering to take special interview of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, which later created a political havoc in Pakistan’s politics.

The details shared by Newsone informs that Ehtasham Ali was the officer who managed to get security clearance for the journalist, before seeking any formal permission from the Aviation department.

However, it is not confirmed that on whose behest the officer gave security clearance to Cyril Almeida.

On Saturday, a famous news outlet published an exclusive interview of Nawaz Sharif taken out by Cyril Almeda  involved in releasing exclusive story, then what became famous as “Dawn Leaks”,.

During that interview he remarked

“Militant organisations are active. Call them non-state actors, should we allow them to cross the border and kill 150 people in Mumbai? Explain it to me. Why can’t we complete the trial?” — a reference to the Mumbai attacks-related trials which have stalled in a Rawalpindi anti-terrorism court.

“It’s absolutely unacceptable. This is exactly what we are struggling for. President Putin has said it. President Xi has said it,” Mr Sharif said. “We could have already been at seven per cent growth (in GDP), but we are not.”
