Afaq Ahmad offers MQM to join hands, give up differences

KARACHI: In an extraordinary development at the political scenario of Karachi, Mohajir Qaumi Movement- Haqiqi (MQM-H) chief Afaq Ahmad has offered the rival political party Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) to join hands for the sake of Mohajir community.

While addressing reporters at his residence in Karachi’s Defence area, Afaq said “I am ready to visit Nine-Zero to put an end to the decades-long differences between the two political parties”.

Afaq went on to say that there is no positive outcome of the rivalry between MQM-Haqiqi and MQM. The politics based on discussion, deliberation and dialogues is the only positive way forward, he added.

Responding to a question about his contact with MQM chief Altaf Hussain, Afaq said that he is in contact with Altaf Hussain, however he is ready to sacrifice his ego for the betterment of Mohajirs.

Afaq Ahmad was one of the key members of MQM, which was then named Muhajir Qaumi Movement, till 1989.

He, however, parted his ways with MQM on ideological grounds and established Muahjir Qaumi Movement (Haqiqi), while the original MQM was renamed as Muttahida Qaumi Movement.
