Air strikes kill 9 militants in Khyber Agency


RAWALPINDI: Pakistani fighter jets launched air strikes on suspected militant position in Khyber tribal region on Tuesday, killing at least nine insurgents, army said.


According a press statement issued by army’s media wing, ISPR, 9 terrorists were killed in aerial strikes in area close to Pak-Afghan border in Khyber agency.

In a major breakthrough last month, Pakistan army handed over control of Bara town of Khyber Agency after clearing the area of terrorists.

Pakistan army is engaged in a major operation in the country’s restive tribal belt since June last year.

Hundreds of militants have been killed or captured by armed forces since the launch of the operation.
