HALA: Makhdoom Amin Faheem’s elder son, and Sindh’s Provincial Minister of Revenue, Makhdoom Jamil uz-Zaman has on Monday been made the spiritual head of Sarwari Jamaat in a graceful ceremony held in Hala.
According to details, Jamil uz-Zaman has now become the 19th Sajjada Nasheen (spiritual head) of subcontinent’s famous Dargah Ghous ul-Haq Makhdoom Sarwar Noah Hala.
He was enjoined with the new responsibility on the ‘Soyem’ (3rd day) ceremony of the 18th head of Sarwari Jamaat Makhdoom Amin Faheem.
The ceremony was attended by Sarwari caliphs, heads of various other Dargaahs and political personalities.
Since the attendants were in large number, more cloth was brought for the turban-tying ceremony (a ceremony held to bestow the spiritual head of some clan or religious organization, called Dastar Bandi).
The disciples also renewed their allegiance with the new spiritual guide (Murshid) on this occasion. Makhdoom Jamil uz-Zaman addressed the disciples and visited the shrine of Makhdoom Sarwar Noah to offer Fateha.
Jamil uz-Zaman is the Vice President of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Sindh and holds the portfolio of revenue in the province. Author of 19 books, Jamil uz-Zaman has been elected twice as the Member of Sindh Assembly.
Talking to media, Makhdoom Jamil uz-Zaman said that he will try his best to fulfill his responsibilities and live up to the expectations of the people.
Senior leader of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Makhdoom Amin Fahim passed away in Karachi on Saturday early morning after a long illness. He was suffering from blood cancer.
According to the details, Makhdoom Ameen Fahim had been abroad for the last several months for cancer treatment and had recently returned to Pakistan. After his return to Karachi, he was admitted to a private hospital where he was under treatment for last few weeks.
Makhdoom was senior vice chairman of the PPP and member of the National Assembly from Hala (NA-218). He was the spiritual head of the Sarwari Jamaat. He was born in Hala city of Sindh on 4th August, 1939. He passed his matriculation exam in 1957 while graduated from Sindh University in 1961. He participated in General Elections 1970 on PPP ticket and got elected as member of National Assembly from Thatha. He won all the elections of 1977, 1988, 1990, 1993, 1997, 2002, 2008 and 2013, which is a record.
