LAHORE: It is learnt that the arrest of former Lahore Development Authority Director Ahad Cheema has sent shock waves to Punjab’s bureaucracy and government.
On Friday, few bureaucrat officers had held a protest against the arrest of Cheema by National Accountability Court, as few officers had locked down their respective offices in Punjab’s secretariat. sources informed.
Civil-servants view the arrest of Cheema who is also considered to be a close aide of chief minister of Punjab Shehbaz Sharif as unconstitutional.
On Thursday, Punjab’s government spokesman Malik Muhammad also lambasted the NAB officials for nabbing Ahad Cheema, saying that there is no precedent in the recent past where the accused is nabbed for not complying to summons dispatched by NAB authorities to appear before them.
Ahad Cheema was arrested on Wednesday for corruption charges in Ashiyana Housing Scheme scandal, as the former did not comply to NAB summons to appear before them.
