Ashiyana Housing Scheme Scandal: NAB extends physical remand of Ahad Cheema, others accused

LAHORE: The National Accountability Bureau(NAB) Tuesday has extended 14-days physical remand of former Directer of (LDA) Lahore Development Authority chairman Ahad Cheema, Shahid Shafeeq, and two others accused in Ashiyana Housing Scheme Scandal, Newsone reported.


LDA director Ahad Cheema Shahid Shafeeq, and two others accused has appeared before in front of accountability court today.

The court has rejected the bail of Ahad Cheema seeking a bail in Ashiyana housing scheme scandal.  Accountability court rejected the plea bail and declared the arrest as legal.

The two-member bench headed by Justice Qasim has announced the verdict.

Ahad Cheema a 20 grade officer, considered to be a close aide of chief minister of Punjab Shehbaz Sharif was arrested after failing to appear before NAB after 2 summons.

He is facing corruption charges in Ashiyana Housing Scheme scandal, as the former did not comply to NAB summons to appear before them.

Ashiyana Housing Scheme was an initiative of the Punjab government to provide economical residential facilities to the people with low-incomes. The provincial authorities had invested Rs 2 billion while acquiring 672 kanal land of Baba Noor Shah shrine.
